For those who have setup their MobileMe email account on their iPhone as "Other" to get their email aliases to show up in the from field using this approach; if you do it this way then did you lose your ability to sync your calendar, contacts, etc.?

Thanks for the guide. It really helped me to get the remote working for mythbuntu 910. The only thing i am struggling with is the hex dump, for some reason i cannot get that working even though the remote works fine in myth using your files.

Could someone please dump the hex here for the DVD menu "special" button on the remote so i can use it? I would also be grateful if someone could dump the home button.

Thanks

Hi Chris

This is a great how-to. I bought one of these from eBuyer too, great value and it feels sturdy enough.

Since you've done a lot to help already, I hate to ask for more, but could you please, if possible post a couple of files from your system?

/etc/lirc/lircd.conf
and
/home/mainuser/.mythtv/lircrc

I've tried it as you described, but still cant get it to work. I'm not a newbie, so I guess I've just got one line wrong or something.

I'm on Ubuntu 9.10 with an ASRock ION330 with a Haupague WinTV NOVA-TD. I'm pretty pleased with the system, but the ASRock ION330 is not a quiet as I'd hoped. The remote is the last piece of the puzzle for me.

Also, I didn't quite understand what wayne was saying, was he saying you don't need LIRC?

Thanks for the how-to, and thanks even more so if you can post the files.

Cheers
Andy

Sorry for the duplication. I checked back after having submitted originally, and no longer saw my post. I thought it had been erased for some reason. So, I tried again. Again, sorry for the dup.

I tried this and unfortunately when I go into the account info, the address portion is "greyed out" and I can find no way to paste the alias info in. Did I miss a step or is there another way around?

I would love to be able to utilize alias addresses when e-mailing from my iPhone.
